| Customer Reviews: Finally a clear and comprehensive practical guide June 8, 2000 Kimeron Hardin, Ph.D. 35 out of 35 found this review helpful
As a psychologist who specializes in working with people with chronic pain, I have waited years for a comprehensive book that could answer my basic questions about strategies for effective pain management. This is the book. I have used it both clinically and as a reference for my own writing and teaching. The book is very well-written, not too technical and maintains a high standard for the information included. Every attempt has been made to validate recommended approaches with solid research and suggestions with limited or mixed research results are clearly indicated. The authors have selected an outstanding mix of contributors, each recognized as experts and authorities in the field.

This book has really helped in understanding the constant pain I feel after back surgery. It gives coping skills, and broadens your ourlook so you can continue on with your life and manage the pain.

I was looking for a good overview of the current understanding of pain and how it is applied to various groups and it gave me what I needed. For professionals and academics.
Very good book for the chronic pain practitioner June 27, 2010 Lakotasue (Ypsi MI) I am a Pain Management Nurse. I found this book to be a very good resource for basic information and for use in preparing presentations on chronic pain. Some of the info is a bit dated, but all in all, I would recommend this book.
